Hello everyone,

I am currently considering getting a new Pax wardrobe from Ikea and have a fairly specific question: Does Ikea offer Pax wardrobes that come standard with glass doors and also have integrated lighting? I am mainly interested in optimally displaying items I want to store in the wardrobe, as well as achieving a modern and consistent look.

It is important for me to know whether this combination of glass doors plus integrated lighting is offered directly by Ikea, or if I would need to rely on aftermarket solutions.

I would appreciate any experiences, recommendations, or specific information on suitable models and their availability.

Hello,

Pax wardrobes are available with glass doors, that is correct. However, integrated lighting is not included as standard with the doors but is offered as a separate accessory that you need to order additionally.

Hello berkaymu,

I can explain this in a bit more detail: Ikea does offer Pax wardrobes with various glass doors, including frames with inserts made of clear glass, opal glass, or frosted glass. So, glass doors are indeed available as finished fronts.

Lighting for Pax is almost always sold as a separate product. Ikea provides its own LED light strips and spotlights that you can mount inside the wardrobe. Keep in mind:
- The LED lights usually have a plug that you need to connect to a power outlet.
- The lighting is primarily designed for retrofitting; as far as I know, fully integrated lighting built directly into the door is not part of the Pax standard.

To get the best of both worlds, you can combine glass doors with appropriate internal components and the lighting, but not as a complete wardrobe with a factory-installed combined setup.

For clarification: Lighting is always an additional feature and can be installed in different areas of the cabinet. There are suitable LED lamps and strips that can be mounted, for example, at the top or on the sides of the cabinet.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.

What about the effort involved in integrating this lighting yourself? Do I need to do a lot of DIY work, or is the Ikea system designed so that this is easy and can be done without major modifications? Has anyone done this before?

Hello berkaymu,

the lighting for Pax wardrobes is not fully integrated by default, but retrofitting it is relatively easy. Ikea offers LED strips and spotlights with plug connections that can usually be installed inside with just a few simple steps.

You will need:
- The appropriate LED strip, which is usually attached with adhesive tape.
- A power outlet, which is often located outside the wardrobe (e.g., a nearby electrical socket).

When installing, make sure the cables are neatly routed, ideally along the back panel or on the sides, so they don’t get in the way. You normally don’t need an electrician, as it is more of a plug-and-play system than permanently installed wiring.

If you want, I can give you some tips on which models I have used and exactly how I installed them.
