Hello everyone, I am currently considering sticking felt pads under my KALLAX shelves to better protect the floor and avoid any unpleasant scratches or noises. Has anyone had experience with felt pads under KALLAX shelves? I am especially interested in how well they stick to laminate or hardwood flooring, whether they actually protect the furniture well when moving it, and if the felt pads remain durable over time or wear out quickly. Maybe you also have tips on which felt pads – for example, self-adhesive ones or those that are inserted – work better. Looking forward to your opinions and experiences!

Use self-adhesive ones; they stick really well on laminate.I can confirm that! The self-adhesive felt pads have been little heroes on my laminate floor. 🙂 The shelves slide much more smoothly over the parquet, and the floor doesn’t feel as worn anymore. Bonus for the house, it’s good for both the flooring and the wallet 😉. I’ve had them on for about eight months now with no signs of wear—simply great!

Otherwise, they tend to come off faster. The especially thick versions provide better scratch protection but adhere less well on uneven floors. For long-lasting adhesion, I recommend thoroughly cleaning the floor before applying and pressing the pads firmly into place.
Alternatively, felt glides that clamp on are suitable; they don’t slip as easily, although attaching them to KALLAX shelves can sometimes be tricky. Overall, felt pads offer effective protection for hardwood floors—especially with frequent furniture sliding, this solution has proven reliable.
