Hello everyone,
I am planning to buy a Brimnes bed from Ikea, but I have some concerns about the wall mounting. My question is: How secure is the Ikea BRIMNES wall attachment really, especially regarding stability and long-term durability?
I’m interested in experiences with the included mounting hardware as well as tips on how to improve it, for example with older or less load-bearing walls.
What problems or risks can arise if the connection is not done properly, and are there any professional tips on how to minimize the risk?
I look forward to your experiences and assessments!

I'm especially interested to know whether you installed this in a new build with a solid wall or rather in an older house? That was exactly my case, solid wall, modern new build. The original mounting holds perfectly well. In an older building, however, I would recommend using better anchors!
@everyone: Folks, don’t be afraid of screws! If you work carefully, it’s a really secure solution. 😊

A little anecdote: I installed my BRIMNES on a timber stud wall in an older apartment. Special anchors combined with longer screws helped me a lot there. Safety feeling on point!
You just need to know what type of wall you have and adjust accordingly. The IKEA mounting is a good starting point, but with a bit of know-how, it becomes perfect. 🙂

Super exciting topic!! I fixed my BRIMNES to a drywall partition and was initially worried it wouldn’t hold. But with the right cavity anchors, everything worked perfectly!
The most important thing is that the screws are installed properly and securely. Better to drill one more hole than to leave it too loose!
Don’t worry, the piece is really secure if you choose the appropriate fasteners! 👍

I wonder if the entire wall anchoring system with Ikea furniture is more of a safety feature required by regulations,I completely agree. Especially since attaching furniture to the wall from behind is often done to prevent tipping — less because the bed itself would be unstable otherwise.

For older buildings, I would definitely recommend using better anchors!Exactly, the weak point is the old building structure. It’s less about Ikea or not, and more about securing the fixtures properly in the masonry.
