Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a renovation of my Ikea Metod kitchen and am looking specifically for tips on how to carry out this project as cost-effectively as possible. I am particularly interested in experiences with affordable alternatives to standard parts or ways to sensibly integrate used components.

Also: What should definitely be considered during the dismantling and reassembly to avoid costly rework later on?

I appreciate any advice that focuses on budget-friendly solutions and smart approaches – including tips that might not be obvious. Thank you in advance!

Why always Ikea? Metod is solid, but especially for budget-conscious renovations, it’s worth considering less well-known manufacturers or even custom-made cabinet fronts.

My advice: Instead of buying everything new, consider sanding down existing units, repainting them, or applying vinyl wraps. This saves money while still giving a fresh look.

If you decide to stick with Metod, think about whether you really need to replace all the cabinets or just selectively upgrade certain modules.

Hey Flobenedik,

I totally get your plan – the Metod series is really flexible, but the costs can add up quickly.

A little tip: sometimes it’s worth choosing more affordable options for the base cabinets or handles from a hardware store. Small effort, big impact!

And if you have some DIY skills, with a bit of patience you can find used kitchen modules at a good price and modify them to fit.

Keep it up, I’m curious to see what you’re planning!

If you want to build more affordably, look for clearance items or display models at Ikea stores.

You can often save a lot this way.

To reduce costs when remodeling with Metod, I recommend:

- Use Ikea’s planning software to avoid purchasing mistakes
- Take advantage of Ikea’s offers on fronts and countertops or look for slightly damaged returns
- Reuse high-quality functional fittings instead of cheap alternatives

By applying these methods thoughtfully, costs can be significantly lowered without compromising on the quality of the main components.

Hello Flobenedik,

some time ago, I renovated a Metod kitchen and can share a few basic tips that could save you a lot of money and trouble.

1. Be sure to measure everything precisely and pay attention to tolerances, especially when combining modules from different series.
2. If possible, reuse old hinges and drawer runners, as long as they still work well.
3. For countertops, it’s worth considering affordable alternatives with custom cutting – sometimes inexpensive laminate boards from third-party suppliers are significantly cheaper than Ikea’s own.

I believe the planning stage really makes the difference. Spend some time there and maybe book a personalized consultation at your Ikea store, which many people tend to underestimate.
