Hello everyone, I am looking for inspiring and feasible DIY ideas specifically for the Ikea Brimnes furniture range. My goal is to enhance the standard furniture pieces, such as dressers or beds, whether through practical additions, visual customizations, or clever multifunctional uses. It is important to me that the instructions or suggestions are easy to follow and can be realized with readily available materials. Perhaps someone here already has experience or guides on how to upgrade the BRIMNES range in a functional and stylish way? I look forward to your ideas and also welcome tips on implementation or sources for the necessary materials.

Great topic, I love customizing IKEA furniture, and BRIMNES in particular offers a lot of possibilities! 😍 My absolute favorite is covering the dresser doors with colored furniture wallpaper or vinyl – it looks fantastic and is super easy! And don’t forget: changing the handles! A few cool brass handles could really upgrade the overall look. Also, I once installed an LED light strip inside the side panels of the bed frame – it creates a really relaxing atmosphere in the evening! Just battery-powered LEDs or USB lights, very convenient. Just dive in, the results are really cool! Good luck, and reach out if you need any help! 😊👍

My absolute favorite is covering dresser doors with colored furniture wallpaper or vinyl – it looks amazing and is super easy! I can only recommend this idea, Juanina! Another simple and functional option is to extend the BRIMNES dresser by attaching shelves to its sides. This significantly increases storage space and allows you to keep frequently used items within easy reach. It is advisable to use plywood or solid pine wood to ensure stability. It is important to measure precisely before drilling and, if necessary, use wall anchors to distribute the load. If you want, I can gladly write you a step-by-step guide. Painting the furniture with chalk paint before installing the shelves is also a great way to achieve a vintage look.
Super interesting topic! 😎 Another DIY idea that comes to mind is converting the BRIMNES bed into a storage marvel. Simply attach castors under the bed and then slide sturdy storage boxes underneath – perfect for clothes or bedding that you don’t need all the time. Also great is attaching fabric pockets to the back of the headboard – ideal for books or tablets! Stuff like this makes life easier and the bedroom cozier. 😉
I’ve also seen that you can cover the back panels of dressers with magnetic sheets. That way, you can attach notes or photos with magnets – basically a small pinboard!

To add to the previous suggestions: When working with furniture wallpaper or films, it is essential to pay close attention to surface preparation to ensure long-lasting durability. This means that BRIMNES surfaces should be lightly sanded and cleaned before applying the film. Furthermore, when installing additional shelves, I recommend ensuring an even distribution of load to prevent deformation of the furniture. Using metal angle brackets instead of plastic ones is advisable in this case. Another point is the installation of custom-built cable channels on the bed to neatly organize charging cables. This greatly improves tidiness.
Really exciting here! 😍 I truly love customizing IKEA furniture! For my BRIMNES wardrobe, I simply installed taller legs – higher and more stable, and it immediately looks more modern! They come in wood finish or metal, really stylish!
Also, my tip: cover the doors with chalkboard film. This gives you a super practical surface for writing – shopping lists, appointments, anything you want to keep in view! It’s quick and way cooler than sticky notes.
Give experimenting a try—you’ll have the most fun!! 🚀
