Hello everyone, I want to assemble an Ikea Brimnes furniture piece in a very tight space and am looking for tips on the best way to approach this. The room situation is such that there is hardly any free area next to the actual assembly spot—more like a small hallway or a narrow corner. Are there proven assembly strategies, recommended tools, or procedures to build the furniture as space-efficiently and securely as possible? Any advice on the best way to store or organize the parts before starting assembly would also be helpful. Thanks in advance!

It’s best to assemble the large sections individually rather than building the entire piece at once. Keep screws within easy reach, ideally sorted in small containers. Tools: a cordless drill is helpful, but a regular screwdriver works fine as well. Lay out the parts flat on the floor for assembly.

This is a very important point that I would like to add to. Especially in tight spaces, I recommend sorting all parts by assembly groups first and assembling each group separately in a corner or on a dedicated surface. This helps avoid unnecessary movement and reduces the risk of damage or obstacles.

Additionally, it is helpful not to fully assemble the furniture beforehand, but to complete the final steps—such as joining modules or attaching the back panel—on site. This saves space and makes handling easier.

I would also advise ventilating the room well before starting the assembly and temporarily removing any obstacles to create more room to move. Sometimes it’s enough to temporarily remove a door or relocate small furniture pieces during the assembly process.

If you like, I can also recommend some tools that make working in small spaces easier.

Also, tips on how to best store or organize the parts before starting assembly would be helpful.

For preparation, I recommend the following structured approach:

- Carefully open the packaging to identify all components and check for any damage.
- Sort the individual boards and parts by type and size, for example, all side panels together, all shelves together, and so on.
- Organize screws, dowels, and small parts in small boxes or trays to prevent accidentally knocking them over.

Due to limited space, arrange the parts so that you have them within easy reach in the order of assembly and don’t need to constantly move between different spots.

For tools, I suggest a compact cordless drill with a good grip to work safely even in tight corners.

During assembly, be careful not to permanently fix any unnecessary parts before they are joined to avoid damage when moving or storing them.

With this preparation, you can work methodically and efficiently, making the assembly process safer and less stressful.
