Hello everyone, I was wondering if there are any concrete plans or official developments from Ikea aimed at combining the two wardrobe series Platsa and Pax. I’m asking because I currently use both systems and would like to merge the modular advantages of Platsa with the extensive interior options of Pax into a single unit. Are there any details about whether Ikea intends to make these two product lines compatible or plans to create interfaces in the future that would facilitate their joint use? I would appreciate any experiences or informed insights, perhaps from people who keep up to date or even have contacts at Ikea.

To my knowledge, there are no official plans to directly combine Ikea's PLATSA and PAX systems. Both are designed for different purposes and have their own dimensions and constructions. Those who want to use both should focus on smart space utilization and custom connecting profiles.

Ikea currently does not offer any product line or accessories that specifically ensure compatibility between PLATSA and PAX. Both systems differ fundamentally in their design: PAX is a traditional, frame-based wardrobe system with fixed interior dimensions and adjustable shelves and doors, whereas PLATSA is a modular, more flexible system without fixed back panels and with special mounting options. To my knowledge, there are no official plans for integration, which is also related to the intended purpose of the product lines.

Hello, I can understand the question well, as many people are looking for ways to combine their furniture as flexibly as possible. Although PLATSA and PAX are separate series, there are practical workarounds. For example, you can install PLATSA units next to PAX wardrobes and use special connecting elements or shelves between the rows to create the impression of a single unit. I am not aware of any official plans from Ikea to merge both systems without construction work, but it is worth keeping an eye on the forums and product updates. If there are any specific ideas for implementation, I am happy to assist with the planning.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like you have to come up with your own solutions if you want to achieve a combined look. I would be interested to know if there are any unofficial accessories or community solutions designed specifically to connect PAX and PLATSA. In particular, I’m curious about how to ensure stability when assembling elements that are not originally intended to be connected. Are there any recommendations for profiles, screws, or assembly techniques?

Regarding stability and assembly, it is important to understand that PAX, as a frame system with fixed back panels, is designed quite differently from PLATSA, which is based on a more modular, flexible construction. Community solutions often rely on simple adapters and connecting brackets from hardware stores, which are strategically placed where the cabinet units meet. Additionally, self-adhesive connectors with appropriate load capacity are recommended, especially when the units are heavily loaded. However, there are no standardized Ikea accessories for this purpose, making the assembly method the most critical factor. A tip: the manufacturer’s specifications for maximum load capacity of each component should be taken seriously to avoid stability issues.
