Hello everyone,

I am planning to transport furniture from the IKEA Brimnes series soon and want to make sure the pieces do not get damaged. My question to the community is: How can I safely transport IKEA Brimnes furniture, especially larger items like the bed frame or the wardrobe?

I am particularly interested in which materials or aids have proven useful (e.g., protective films, blankets, special straps) and if there are any helpful tips for securing and loading the furniture properly in the vehicle.

I have also heard that screws should not necessarily be fully loosened, and I am uncertain whether it is safer to transport the furniture assembled or disassembled.

I would be very grateful for any helpful advice or experience shared!

I would always disassemble furniture whenever possible. It helps prevent scratches. Then wrap the pieces in blankets and secure them with ratchet straps. This keeps everything stable.

For the safe transport of IKEA Brimnes furniture, the following procedure is recommended:

- Disassemble the furniture as completely as possible before transport, especially large parts like wardrobe doors and slatted frames.
- Keep all loose parts (screws, small components) in a labeled bag and securely attach it to the furniture.
- Use thick blankets or bubble wrap to protect against scratches and impacts.
- Position the furniture in the vehicle so that it cannot shift during transport. Ratchet straps are essential.
- Screws should not be left partially loosened; they should be fully removed and safely stored.

Transporting the furniture in a disassembled state is generally safer and easier.

Great topic! 😄 Last year, I transported the Brimnes bed and wardrobe – and everything went smoothly! Here are my tips:

- Place the parts on the mattress or back seat so that no hard edges are touching each other.
- Use thick moving blankets, or even better, bubble wrap to cushion each piece well!
- Always store screws separately, preferably in the spare parts bag that IKEA provides.

Stay relaxed, you can do it too! 😉

Disassemble, pack, secure. No secret tips. This is the way. Transporting furniture fully assembled? Far too risky!

Hello Blason2,

I understand that transporting Brimnes furniture can be challenging, especially since the parts are often large and flat. A safe solution is definitely to transport the furniture disassembled. Important points to keep in mind are:

- Step 1: Protect individual parts from scratches by using soft blankets or stretch wrap. Stretch wrap is particularly effective because it fits tightly and holds the parts together.
- Step 2: Secure screws and small parts in a labeled bag attached firmly to a furniture piece to avoid losing anything.
- Step 3: When loading, make sure no parts rest on the edges of others. It’s best if everything lies flat and is well distributed.
- Step 4: Use ratchet straps or tie-down straps to prevent the furniture from shifting during transport — this is essential!

Some people swear by placing cardboard protection between large furniture parts as well. Personally, I find blankets and straps to be sufficient.

Good luck with your transport, it will definitely work out!
