Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble the Ikea Brimnes bedroom set and I have a question about which types of screws are included in the package. It is especially important for me to know if it only contains standard chipboard screws or if there are also special anchors, wood screws, or machine screws included.
Could someone provide me with a detailed overview of the types of screws and fasteners that come with this set? This would greatly help me prepare my toolbox and evaluate whether I need to purchase additional materials.
Thank you in advance!

The screws in the Ikea Brimnes set are quite standard, so here is a brief overview:
- Chipboard screws: Used for assembling the wooden panels, usually included multiple times in the set.
- Wooden dowels: Made of wood, for better stability of the joints.
- Small Phillips screws: Often used for back panels or smaller components.
Typically, there are no large screws, machine screws, or heavy-duty metal anchors included, as the product is designed for light to moderate loads. One tip: sometimes the screws can be quite short, so don’t be surprised if the furniture feels stable but for more load-bearing constructions people often add their own screws.
For special stress or heavier use, I would replace the screws with more robust ones, but for standard assembly the included screws are perfectly sufficient.

Could you or someone else maybe clarify whether these furniture dowels are usually made of wood? I have seen metal dowels on some pull handles, which are naturally more stable, especially for cabinet doors.
I would really appreciate any details about the different types of dowels.

You typically won’t find metal dowels or specially anchored dowels in this set. The stability of such furniture is mainly provided by particleboard screws and additional metal brackets, as specified in the assembly instructions.
If extra stability is truly needed, for example with hinges or doors that are subject to higher stress, I recommend using your own, slightly stronger screws or adding reinforcement elements.

Great topic! I assembled the Brimnes set myself and can confirm that the package mainly included short chipboard screws and the classic wooden dowels.
What I would recommend: If you plan to use the furniture for a long time and especially expect heavy use of the doors, make sure to get higher-quality screws and dowels or at least add some screw-in metal brackets.
This provides extra stability, and you won’t notice any difference during the assembly process itself. Good luck with your build!
