Hello everyone! I am currently facing the challenge of how to optimize the lighting inside my IKEA Metod kitchen cabinets to get a much clearer view inside. I find that the standard LED strips or single lights are often not sufficient because shadows are created or certain areas remain too dark – especially in deep cabinets or with tall wall cabinets.
My question is: What lighting methods, light sources, or installation options have you found for Metod cabinet systems to achieve better illumination and thus improved visibility? What has proven effective in practice, including aspects such as energy consumption, installation, and light distribution?
I would also appreciate any tips regarding cable management, dimmability, or light color. Thank you in advance!

Battery-powered LEDs with motion sensors work well for short cabinet opening times. The runtime varies depending on the model, usually between 2 and 6 months with moderate use. The brightness is sufficient for general visibility but is weaker than mains-powered solutions. For continuous and more intensive use, hardwired LED strips are better. I recommend choosing a light color between 3000 and 4000 K, as neutral white LEDs appear the most natural.
Very exciting topics here! I equipped my Metod cabinets with color temperature-adjustable LED strips, and the light can be dimmed using a remote control. Totally flexible and very practical! You can see everything, even in the deepest areas. Simply a big improvement – makes cooking really enjoyable! 😊

That would actually be a good compromise: individually adjustable lighting while still maintaining good visibility. Do you know if it’s difficult to retrofit standard LED strips with remote control into the Metod cabinets?
