Hello everyone,
I have some damaged IKEA Metod countertops and cabinet fronts in my kitchen that no longer look good due to scratches, dents, or chipped edges. Since I’d prefer not to replace everything and want a quick solution, I’m looking for practical methods or products to repair these kinds of damages on Metod countertops or fronts efficiently and effectively. It’s also important for me that the solution is durable and discreet, ideally without requiring much effort or special tools.
Has anyone had experience with repair methods for Metod countertops or fronts? What steps and materials have you used to fix scratches or chipped edges, for example? I look forward to your tips and recommendations!

Who says the cut edge of Metod cabinets always has to be perfect? As long as it functions properly and is stable, a chipped corner is not a big deal. All the repairing and touching up is often just effort for appearance, which everyone recognizes as "IKEA" anyway. Instead, you could consider using striking vinyl wraps or even colored epoxy resins to create creative accents rather than trying to hide imperfections. This way, a flaw becomes a design feature.

So wird aus einem Fehler ein Design-Feature.Exactly! Repairing doesn’t always have to be boring. A colorful edge or a small pattern over a scratch can give the kitchen character. 😉
If you prefer a classic approach, using filler or repair wax is the way to go—it’s quick and clean. Just apply according to the instructions and sand it down.
I also had deep scratches on my Metod countertop. My tip: for a quick and durable repair, I use two-component epoxy putty. It’s very hard, easy to shape and color. Afterwards, sand it down with fine sandpaper and touch it up with matching paint – it then looks almost like new! Just give it a try, it’s really motivating to see the damage disappear!

For a quick and durable repair, I use a 2-component epoxy joint filler.Interesting, but it’s important to consider whether the chemical composition of such fillers is long-term compatible with the sealants or coatings on the Metod fronts. A material that is too rigid could cause stress at the edges. Additionally, it should be checked whether the color tone and gloss can be matched exactly, as otherwise new visual breaks may occur.
