ᐅ Is there a trick to make it easier to hang IKEA Metod cabinet doors?

Gla10Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the problem that hanging IKEA Metod doors is quite difficult. Especially when attaching the doors to the hinges, it is rather tedious to adjust them properly so that they close flush. I am wondering if there is a trick to hang IKEA Metod doors more easily and efficiently without putting strain on the hinges or door frames?
I am technically skilled, but it would be great if someone could share practical tips that go beyond the usual "just slot them in." Maybe there is a special method for hanging or a small aid that makes the mounting process easier.
Thanks for your advice!

Is there a trick to hang IKEA Metod doors more easily and efficiently without putting stress on the hinges or door frame? That’s a good question, as many people don’t give it much thought and just try to force them in. But first, I’d consider what actually causes the difficulty.
As far as I know, it largely depends on the fit. In many cases, the hinge doesn’t fit perfectly into the door’s mounting plate, which makes hanging the door harder. So one trick would be to check the hinges or their mounting position in advance and, if necessary, make minor adjustments to allow a smoother hanging process.
The question is: Has this been checked in your case? Often the issue isn’t fixed before hanging but only afterward, which creates extra work.

- Check the hinges before installation and clean them if necessary, or apply a light oil film to the mechanism. This reduces friction.
- Hold the door slightly angled to the cabinet to align the top hinge first.
- Slightly adjust the hinge mounting on the front of the cabinet if it is a bit too tight.
- Use a thin plastic piece or a screwdriver as a support to temporarily hold the position.
However, I must point out that the Metod system, when properly assembled, should not have these issues with well-made furniture of this type if the manufacturing is accurate.

The question is: Has that already been checked in your case?Yes, I have checked all hinges for proper installation, and they are in the standard position as described by IKEA. However, the top hinge doesn’t seem to slide smoothly into the bracket, so I wanted to ask if there are any specific tips that might help with this.

Hold the door slightly angled to the cabinet to align the top hinge first.I tried that, but the door still gets stuck quite firmly on the hinge plate. Maybe the hinge cups are sitting too tight? I’m curious if anyone has managed to find a trick that makes it noticeably easier.
I can understand how frustrating this can be. I have installed several Metod doors myself, and I was overwhelmed during the first few days until I realized that patience really makes a difference here.
Sometimes it also helps to work with a partner: one person holds the door in place while the other aligns the hinges and slowly hangs it. It’s a bit like teamwork. I was annoyed at first as well, but it gets easier, I promise!
