Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a new closet solution using the Ikea Pax system and am considering integrating doors with mirrored glass. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any specific versions of Pax doors with mirrored glass in the current Ikea range on their website. My question to the community is: Does Ikea actually offer Pax system doors equipped with real mirrored glass? If yes, what sizes and frame options are available, and how is the availability?

Additionally, I am interested in whether there might be alternative solutions, such as mirrored glass as an upgrade option or similarly appealing variants that are not directly listed on the product page.

Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

Good morning,

to answer your question directly: Yes, Ikea does offer doors with mirror glass for the Pax system, but these are not standard on all models and are often available only in certain designs. For example, there are “mirror doors” or “mirror” fronts available for some cabinet widths. The mirrors are usually frameless or have a narrow frame made of metal or wood in various colors.

In terms of measurements, the mirror glass doors generally fit the well-known Pax standard sizes (e.g., 50cm (20 inches) and 75cm (30 inches) width, 201cm (79 inches) and 236cm (93 inches) height). However, exact availability varies by country and season, as Ikea frequently adjusts their range.

I recommend checking availability online before ordering and, if necessary, contacting the nearest store directly, since there can also be stock and delivery issues.

One note: Mirror glass doors are relatively heavy and require sturdy hinges and a well-aligned cabinet frame.

Hello Oswin8! 😄

I completely understand, mirrored fronts really give the wardrobe a stylish and airy look, almost like an integrated space enhancer. ✨ I have a similar version with mirrored doors on the Pax wardrobe in my own apartment, and I can say: they definitely exist, but at Ikea they’re not always a permanent option—more like seasonal extras or part of specific collections.

Important to know: if you’re thinking of regular mirror glass that reflects the room, that’s usually the case. However, some versions also have mirrored glossy doors with a special surface coating to reduce fingerprints and dirt – which can be a real advantage!

Also: it’s sometimes worth checking Ikea’s online planning tool, as it shows all currently available doors—including mirrored ones, if they’re offered.

Good luck with your Pax project! 🍀

Hello Oswin8,

to give a more detailed answer to your question, I would like to point out that while Ikea does offer mirrored doors for the Pax system, they are not necessarily framed with deep solid wood. Instead, these are usually mirror glass doors with edges framed, commonly combined with MDF panels and mirror glass.

There are different types:
- Doors fully covered with mirror glass across the entire door panel
- Doors with mirrors partially integrated, often as inserts

Some customers also opt for custom solutions by adding mirrors themselves—for example, by attaching mirror panels or mounting mirror elements onto the door panel. This can offer advantages in adapting to your own interior design.

Detail tip: Mirror glass doors often have a different backside than standard doors because they need to be protected against moisture, especially in bathroom or bedroom environments.

If you let us know which room you intend to use the Pax system in, we could provide more targeted advice.

I would like to take the opportunity to specifically address the technical aspects of Ikea Pax doors with mirror glass.

First of all, Ikea Pax mirror doors are generally made of single-pane safety glass (tempered glass) to ensure break resistance. The doors usually have a thickness of about 4 to 6 mm (0.16 to 0.24 inches), which is a standard value for mirror glass doors in furniture applications.

The attachment is mostly done using metal hinges that are specially designed for the weight and material properties. Important to note: mirror glass is significantly heavier than wood or MDF, so the hinges need to be checked regularly and the cabinet must be built sturdily to guarantee long-lasting functionality.

In terms of dimensions, the mirror doors fit the standard Pax cabinet boxes:
- Widths: 50 or 75 cm (20 or 30 inches)
- Heights: 201 or 236 cm (79 or 93 inches)

Regarding the frames, Ikea partially uses a narrow aluminum frame or frameless variants with a protective edge strip made of plastic or metal.

If you are considering a custom manufacturer, that would be an alternative; however, Ikea can already integrate the mirror glass directly into the door frames.

In conclusion: if reflection and the associated light effect are your goal, Ikea Pax mirror glass doors are definitely a good choice—provided you are aware of the requirements regarding installation and weight.

Which version are you specifically considering?

This is a very important point that I can only confirm. The thickness and quality of the mirror glass significantly contribute to safety and durability. Anyone planning to install mirror glass doors in a children’s room or a frequently used area should also consider the tempered glass (ESG) quality.

I would like to add to this, as although Ikea offers solid solutions, DIY projects with mirror film or surface glazing are quite popular and often more affordable. However, it is essential to pay close attention to the load-bearing capacity of the door and ensure professional installation to avoid future issues.

Conclusion: For those seeking safety and visual quality, the official Ikea mirror glass doors are a good choice, especially in sturdy PAX cabinet combinations.
