Hello everyone, I am currently exploring how to use the Ikea PAX system as efficiently as possible for storing collections. This involves different types of collections, such as models, figurines, comics, or cards, all of which have specific requirements for protection, organization, and visibility. I am interested in how to optimally design the frames with drawers, shelves, and sliding doors in a modular way to ensure both dust protection and an attractive presentation. Are there any proven tips or clever modifications for configuring PAX effectively along these lines?

Hello Emirpu, first of all, a very well-formulated and thoughtful introduction to the topic! The Ikea PAX system indeed has many advantages that are perfect for collectors, but there are some details to consider. The combination of shelves with drawers allows for storing small items separately while displaying larger collectibles visibly. The sliding doors are especially helpful for protecting against dust; however, I also recommend using glass fronts, which are available as accessories for PAX or similar options, as they keep dust away better than plain wood or particleboard panels. Another tip is to incorporate integrated lighting systems to highlight the collectibles—LED strips fit in easily. The flexibility of the interior layout is crucial; for example, you can use dividers and boxes to organize and maintain an overview. Hope this helps you a bit!

PAX is well suited if you want to combine shelves and drawers. Doors are important for dust protection. Glass fronts enhance the overall design. Inside, you can use boxes for organization.

Hey, great question, Emirpu! The PAX system is basically like a modular setup for your treasures 😄 What I find especially fun is that you can not only keep dust away but also the curiosity of visitors by designing a drawer for your special items – of course, in a stylish and organized way. You can also play around with different shelf heights to create some dynamics, making it feel almost like a small gallery. Add some LED lighting, and your collection becomes a real eye-catcher! Overall, it feels less like flat-pack furniture and more like a personal museum, right?

I wonder if PAX systems are often underestimated in terms of their adaptability. Although I have read that many people rely on drawers and shelves, I often find that the long-term stability and the impact of heavy collections on the shelves are overlooked. Especially with models that include metal or glass components, the weight distribution is frequently ignored. Additionally, sliding doors do not always provide the best seal against dust – a critical point. Does anyone here have experience with modifications or reinforcements to improve durability?

Super exciting topic! I’ve set up my PAX as a mini display for my figures and absolutely love the result! What I really like is that you can creatively customize the different compartments with small acrylic containers or fabric boxes to keep all the little parts very well organized. I also installed LED strips to make everything nicely illuminated. Here’s a great tip: sometimes just changing the door (for example, a glass door instead of wood) makes the whole thing look much more high-end. It’s amazing what you can do with PAX!
