I’m starting a discussion on the topic "What modular storage concepts can be implemented with IKEA Besta?" Since Besta is a very flexible system, I’m especially interested in which different storage solutions you have created with it or consider practical. I find it particularly interesting how Besta can be customized to fit various room sizes, uses, and design styles. Please share as many specific examples and experiences as possible, including combinations of drawers, doors, inserts, etc., along with tips for optimal space utilization. It would also be helpful to receive advice on what to consider when using Besta in areas like the living room, home office, or hallway. How do you handle the modularity and make use of the many accessories? Thanks in advance for your input!

Great topic, trapi! Besta is simply brilliant because you can build so many different configurations with it! 🙂 For example, at home I assembled my living room wall unit myself using various Besta modules – open shelves, doors with glass for the display cabinet, and drawers at the bottom for DVDs and cables. The great thing is that you can rearrange or add to it anytime! I especially like the combination of shelves and drawers, as it makes the most of every centimeter (inch). And for anyone who thinks Besta is boring – absolutely not! By using colored doors or handleless fronts, you get a really stylish look. I encourage everyone to experiment and also try accessories like inserts or LED lighting! There’s a lot you can do, so go for it!

Hello trapi and everyone, here is a brief guide on how to use Besta modular units, organized chronologically:

- Planning: It starts with measuring the available space. Besta is available in different heights and widths, which greatly helps to fit the modules precisely to the room.
- Basic structure: A combination of open compartments for decoration and closed cabinets for “invisible” storage.
- Interior fittings: Drawers, pull-outs, and doors with different fronts (wood, glass, lacquered) allow for highly customized organization.
- Extensions: With accessories such as storage boxes, inserts, or integrated lighting, you can further optimize the storage space.
- Specific uses: In the living room, open sections are suitable for media devices, while in the hallway sturdy doors are recommended for shoes.

Common mistakes are a lack of prior planning of the interior layout or incorrect measurements. So always know the contents and their size first! Summary: With good planning and flexible components, Besta can be used very effectively as a modular storage system.

I completely agree. The drawers in various sizes offer tremendous flexibility. I use Besta in my home office mainly as a combination of open shelves and closed drawers at different heights, which keeps documents, binders, and office supplies organized yet easily accessible.

I can confirm that—additionally, in my hallway, I mounted casters under a low cabinet made up of several Besta modules. This way, the shoe storage can be moved flexibly. It’s also important to consider the aesthetics, since Besta suits everything from simple to modern styles, for example, through different front panel colors or combinations with real wood fronts.

Anyone already using Besta is welcome to share tips on specific accessories, such as stabilizers or shelves with special load capacities.

Hey everyone 😊, really interesting here! I built a small bar for my dining room using Besta. The cool thing was: instead of doors, I used large drawers to neatly store all the bottles and glasses. I painted the fronts white and added colorful handles to brighten it up – it looks really fresh!

My answer: I like to mix standard Besta parts with custom interior organizers – for example, small boxes inside the drawers to separate smaller items. I also added LED strips underneath, so the bar really stands out in the evening lighting. So Besta isn’t just for storage; it’s also a design statement 😉.

Simply combine Besta to measure. Drawers for small parts, doors for dust protection. In studies, I only use drawers; in living rooms, more open compartments. Accessories help, e.g., dividers.
