Hello everyone, I am currently planning to set up a teenager’s bedroom and am considering using IKEA Platsa systems for this. My question is, which of the many Platsa options are particularly suitable for a teenager’s room when focusing on functionality, storage space, and flexibility? I am especially thinking about combinations that can be rearranged or expanded later on. Are there any recommendations based on experience, for example, which height or depth works best, or whether it is better to choose open or closed units? Which options are especially recommended for a relatively small room but still require as much storage as possible for clothing, school supplies, and hobbies? Looking forward to your tips and specific examples!

Hello pikau! It’s great that you’re considering Platsa for the youth bedroom – I find the series really versatile! 😄 Especially for small rooms, I recommend the shallow modules with doors because you can build them completely against the wall, creating plenty of storage without taking up too much space.

What I like is that you can stack the modules or combine them side by side, and even add drawers. And if your teenager needs more storage later, you can easily put something on top!

In our home, I use a combination of open shelves and closed compartments – this way, there’s space for books or decorations, and you can hide stuff that you don’t want left out all the time.

So: definitely check out the 40cm (16 inches) deep modules, they have good dimensions for clothes and more, and fit really well in most rooms! Good luck!

reoleon47’s recommendation regarding the 40cm (16 inches) deep modules is well-founded.

For youth bedrooms, the combination of the following Platsa options is especially recommended:
- Modules with a depth of 40cm (16 inches) and a height of 128cm (50 inches) for generous storage in limited spaces
- Supplemented with drawer modules for organized storage of smaller items
- Doors to keep things tidy and make the room appear clutter-free

The flexibility of the Platsa series is impressive. The ability to stack modules vertically or arrange them side by side allows for customization to fit different rooms and personal needs.

For a youth bedroom, I recommend 40 cm (16 inches) deep units with doors that close, and a maximum height of 128 cm (50 inches) to make dressing easier. Drawers are useful for small items. Open shelves should only be used if decorations or books are meant to be visible.

In addition to the previous recommendations, I would like to point out the versatility of the Platsa series, especially regarding integration with other IKEA systems, in case expansions are desired later.

For youth bedrooms, it is practical to consider the following options:
- Base modules with 40 cm (16 inches) depth, which provide sufficient storage space for clothing and school supplies.
- Combined door and drawer units to keep individual areas well organized.
- Consideration of room height: Modules with a height of 128 cm (50 inches) are easy to handle, while the 192 cm (75 inches) tall modules tend to be less practical for teenagers due to the higher handle position.

The option to use top and bottom panels also contributes to a stable and visually appealing combination.

I understand how challenging the choice can be – I also spent a long time deciding for my daughter. From experience, flexible options that can adapt over time are especially important for a teenager’s room.

You might also consider choosing a Platsa chest of drawers with drawers that can later be used as a sideboard or a small cabinet. Needs often change, for example, when more school supplies or sports equipment are involved.

Additionally, I would recommend paying attention to sturdy door and drawer handles, as teenagers can sometimes be less careful with fragile handles.

I hope you find the perfect solution – the Platsa series is really a good starting point.
