Hello everyone, I am currently planning to furnish our rather narrow hallway with Ikea Platsa furniture in a practical and visually appealing way. My question is: Are there any tips or proven methods for optimizing the use of the PLATSA series specifically in hallways?

I am thinking about aspects such as choosing the right dimensions, combining with doors or open shelves, making use of depth, and adjustments for tight spaces. I am also interested in how to create as much storage as possible without making the passageway feel too narrow or cluttered.

Perhaps someone has experience with modifications or clever ideas that work well in hallways or even specific furnishing concepts in mind?

I would appreciate any advice, practical planning tips, or information on common issues when using PLATSA in hallways!

I recommend always paying attention to the shallow depth of PLATSA modules when using them in hallways. It is especially important to choose shallow frames (about 35 cm (14 inches) deep) to avoid overcrowding the hallway.

It also often helps to use only half-height modules and combine the storage space with suitable doors and drawers. Closed doors make the hallway look tidier, while open shelves can quickly appear cluttered.

For narrow hallways, furniture with casters or rounded edges is practical to allow for more room to move.

The real strength of the Ikea PLATSA series lies in its modularity and adaptability to different room conditions. For hallways, which are often narrow and long, I recommend the following points:

- Planning the maximum depth: The standard depth of 35 cm (14 inches) is practical, as it does not restrict the passageway too much.
- Combining different modules: For example, a low base cabinet with drawers for shoes, with open compartments or wall-mounted rails for jackets above.
- Doors and fronts: Closed fronts enhance visual order and prevent dust buildup, especially in areas with high foot traffic.
- Flexible interior fittings: Customize boxes, baskets, or shelves individually to use the storage space efficiently.

It is also important to consider the lighting in the hallway – PLATSA modules can be supplemented with LED strips, which provide pleasant lighting especially in narrow corridors.

Furthermore, the assembly is not complicated, but when used in tight spaces, careful pre-planning based on measurements and even a visual sketch is helpful.

Gibt es Tipps oder bewährte Vorgehensweisen, wie man die PLATSA-Serie speziell für Flure optimal nutzen kann?
The answer is: Yes, by carefully selecting dimensions, combining open and closed elements sensibly, and using modular internal dividers, functional and visually appealing solutions can be created.

I love PLATSA in the hallway! The possibilities are huge, and you can cleverly use almost any narrow corner. What I especially like is the versatility!

- Use different heights – this keeps it interesting and helps you avoid the typical “wardrobe block”
- Choose color accents or simple white doors, depending on how bright your hallway is
- Opt for doors with recessed handles to save space in tight hallways!

And don’t forget: LED strips under the furniture create a great atmosphere and make the hallway really welcoming. Go for it, it’s definitely worth it! 😄👍

Exactly! A little light often makes more of a difference than you think!
