Hello everyone,

I am looking for specific information regarding the Ikea Platsa furniture series. Specifically, I would like to know: Are there Ikea Platsa furniture units with integrated drawers that are suitable for use in bathrooms?

My question is whether, besides the usual open shelving units and door modules, there are also drawer units that are appropriate for bathroom use due to moisture resistance or special coatings.

I am searching for furniture pieces from the Platsa range that are suitable for bathroom purposes and offer practical, pull-out drawers to neatly store items such as cosmetics, towels, or other bathroom accessories.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge about whether Ikea offers Platsa drawer furniture suitable for bathrooms? Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hello elpar,

Platsa does offer drawer modules that can be freely combined. For the bathroom, you should check whether the surface is moisture-resistant, as they are officially intended more for living areas.

Minor moisture should not be a problem, but fully wet areas are not ideal.

Hello elpar,

I would like to address your question in more detail.

Ikea Platsa is a modular cabinet system primarily designed for living rooms and bedrooms. The series includes frames with doors, as well as drawer fronts and shelves. There are drawer modules available, but they are not specifically designed for high moisture environments.

Typical bathroom furniture often features special melamine coatings or even water-resistant materials. Platsa pieces usually have painted or veneered surfaces, which are splash-proof but not suitable for continuously damp areas like a bathroom without additional measures.

If you want to use Platsa drawers in the bathroom, I recommend:

- Ensuring the furniture does not come into direct contact with water.
- Applying additional sealants or weather-resistant finishes.
- Ventilating the room well to prevent moisture buildup.

In summary: There are Platsa drawer units, but they are not specifically designed for bathroom use. However, with caution and additional precautions, they can be used.

Platsa is available with drawers, yes. However, it is not ideal for the bathroom without protection. Alternatively, you can look at other IKEA series like Godmorgon, which are specifically designed for bathrooms.

That is correct. The Platsa series offers modular cabinet components with doors, drawers, and shelves, but they are not specially adapted for water resistance.

Ikea products like Godmorgon are specifically designed for bathrooms and feature materials that better withstand moisture.

When using Platsa in a bathroom, it is advisable to at least apply a waterproof sealant to the furniture or use it only in areas with low humidity. Otherwise, moisture or water damage is common due to the cabinet materials.

Summary:
- Platsa with drawers: yes, but not optimized for bathroom moisture
- Alternatives: Godmorgon for bathrooms
- Use only with caution and protective measures in bathrooms

Platsa actually offers drawer modules that can be freely combined.

Exactly, the flexibility of Platsa is really great, but for the bathroom: you should consider the risk and add some moisture protection.

From my experience: it works well in a guest toilet with little steam, but in main bathrooms with showers or bathtubs it’s better not to use it without extra care.

The drawers are excellent for organization, but use water-resistant mats to protect against occasional splashes.

This way everything stays nice and durable – and your bathroom looks stylish at the same time.
