I think you overestimate the importance of colors. The Billy shelves are simple and functional – that's exactly what gives them their charm. Instead of covering them up, the idea of a "designer chic" could be questioned. Why not enhance the original wood with clear varnish? This overly forced modernization often causes more harm than good.

That’s a good point! I’m aiming for a modern look, but if it doesn’t necessarily have to be glossy or colorful, that could be an elegant solution. What about white, possibly with a matte finish?
