Hello everyone, I am about to assemble my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe myself and wonder if there is a simple and effective way to make the process easier. I have already looked through the instructions, but I find them somewhat confusing at times—especially when it comes to assembling the wardrobe sides and drawers. My question is directed to anyone who has already built the Brimnes: Are there any tips or approaches that have proven particularly helpful to assemble the wardrobe safely and with minimal stress? I am especially interested in advice regarding tools, preparation, and potential pitfalls to avoid. Thanks in advance!

This is actually a common issue with IKEA furniture, not just the Brimnes series. A simple approach here mainly means working in an organized way. I recommend first sorting all parts and screws systematically – ideally in small bowls or spread out on a large, clear surface. This helps avoid using the wrong pieces.

When assembling, take your time; it’s worth going through each step carefully. For the drawers, I suggest assembling and installing them only at the very end. The sliding rails on Brimnes units can be a bit tricky.

In terms of tools, a Phillips screwdriver with an ergonomic handle is usually sufficient. A cordless drill can be helpful since there are many screws, but be careful not to damage anything.

One more tip: For the cabinet sides, it’s important to align the wooden dowels correctly and avoid forcing them at an angle. If possible, use a spirit level to make sure everything is perfectly vertical.

One last question: Are you planning to assemble it by yourself, or will you have some help? Sometimes two people are much more practical.

It is best to organize all parts before starting. Separate screws and small components, then follow the instructions step by step. Take extra care with the drawers, as the rails need to fit precisely.

I would say patience is key. A ratchet screwdriver and a clean workspace are very helpful. Install drawers at the end, always align the sides carefully.

I can only agree with that. Another important point is to check that all screws and dowels are complete before starting assembly. If a part is missing during the process, it can cause significant delays.

Additionally, I suggest keeping the instructions handy in their original format (printed or as a PDF) and frequently verifying that the order of steps is followed during assembly. Many mistakes happen when steps are swapped to try to save time.

Tools: A small rubber mallet is helpful to gently tap wooden dowels in without damaging the wood. A screwdriver with a magnetic tip greatly simplifies handling the small screws.

Make sure there is enough space and lay out all parts in an organized manner. Proceed step by step, paying close attention to the details in the instructions. Assemble the drawers only at the very end.
