Hello everyone, I currently have a problem with my IKEA Hemnes cabinets that is really frustrating: the doors on some models no longer close properly, there is always a gap, or they don’t latch correctly. I have already checked if the doors are flush and if the hinges are properly aligned, but somehow this hasn’t solved the issue. Has anyone had similar experiences or smarter tips on how to fix this problem permanently? I think it might be related to the installation or the hinges, but I don’t want to start adjusting things blindly without knowing what to watch out for. Thanks in advance!

Thanks in advance for the tips!
I already checked that; everything is securely fastened, but the gap remains.
That’s interesting! I hadn’t realized these small parts are so important. Some of mine are slightly displaced or even missing. Could this really be the cause? Should I reorder them, or are there alternatives that can be used?

Check the nylon buffers in the corners, they ensure proper closing.

Interesting that everyone immediately suspects the hinges here. In my opinion, the problem usually lies in the cabinets not being perfectly level; the floor or the wall can be slightly uneven.
Why is it expected almost everywhere that you can achieve perfect alignment with IKEA furniture? I argue that a lot of fine-tuning is needed, otherwise a HEMNES cabinet can easily hang 2 millimeters (0.08 inches) out of level – and then no door closes properly.
Just try using a spirit level to check if everything is standing and positioned correctly. This is often underestimated.

Oh, such challenges can be frustrating, but hey – they also give you a chance to tackle things with renewed energy! 😄 The important thing is: don’t give up!
I have several HEMNES wardrobes myself, and sometimes just tiny adjustments to the hinges are enough to make the doors close perfectly. It can also help to slightly turn the hinges inward or outward to minimize the gaps.
Give it a try, you’ve got this! And if something gets stuck, we’re all here to help! 😊
