marianraHello everyone, I bought the IKEA Brimnes bed and am currently a bit stuck with the assembly. My specific question is: what are the best ways to avoid common problems when putting together the Brimnes bed? I have already read several parts of the instructions, but some steps are not entirely clear, especially the assembly of the storage boxes and inserting the slatted bed bases. Are there any particular tips or tools that can help make the process faster and error-free? Thanks in advance for your advice!
Hello marianra, first of all, good luck with the Brimnes bed! 🙂 Regarding the issue with the bed storage boxes, I can recommend the following: Make sure to sort all wooden parts in advance and lay them out in the order they appear in the instructions. This helps avoid confusion. For screws and metal fittings, a small box or tray is useful to keep everything within reach. Often, the screw holes are pre-drilled, but double-check carefully before tightening to prevent any splitting or misalignment. Installing the slatted bed base was easier for me when I slightly raised the bed frame instead of laying it completely flat on the floor, as this gave me more freedom to move.
Oh yes, the Brimnes project rocks! 😄 My advice: take your time, lay out all the parts neatly and clearly, and read each step 2-3 times before you start. And don’t worry if something doesn’t fit right away – a little tip: a rubber mallet can work wonders, for example with the connections on the bed frames. Keep calm and keep building! 👍
Hello marianra, may I ask which version of the Brimnes bed you have? The assembly instructions differ slightly depending on whether you have the model with or without drawers. Especially with the drawer mechanisms, the drill holes are sometimes not perfectly pre-drilled, so I recommend the following approach: - First, check each drill hole for splinters or unevenness and gently sand them with fine sandpaper if necessary. - The drawer guide is also fixed using small metal clips; you should insert these with as even pressure as possible, otherwise they may jam when sliding in and out. Could you describe more precisely where exactly you are having problems installing the slatted bed bases? Are there difficulties with the support rails or rather with attaching the rails to the frame?

Are the difficulties related to the support rails or more about attaching the slats to the frame? Thanks for your question! My problem is mainly that the slatted bed bases are quite difficult to install. They’re supposed to hook sideways into small brackets, which are often very tight, and I’m worried that the plastic clips might break or deform. Also, the slatted bases are quite heavy – I’m not sure if that’s normal. Do I need to be especially careful, or is there a trick to protect the slatted base holders?
