Hello everyone,
I am currently considering assembling an Ikea Brimnes bed myself but want to use a particularly secure and long-lasting fastening method. Therefore, my specific question to the community is: What fastening methods are optimal for the Ikea Brimnes, especially regarding the connection between the individual bed parts as well as a stable anchoring in the room?
I am not only interested in Ikea’s assembly instructions but also in tips on how to significantly improve durability and safety with additional screws, wall plugs, or other fastening materials. Does anyone have experience with retrofitting reinforcements, possibly special screws or adhesive techniques that work especially well with the Brimnes? Any advice on fastenings that prevent wobbling or warping would also be very helpful.
Thanks in advance for your tips!

Tilt and edge protection is mandatory with Brimnes. Especially when there are children in the house, nothing should be loose.Absolutely, and here’s a small but useful tip from me: When screwing the back panel to the side panels, make sure to tighten the screws only slightly at first. Then align everything properly before fully tightening. This will save you from frustrating adjustments later on.
Sometimes it’s the little details that make furniture assembly easier! 😉

This way, you avoid warping and distorting the material. Especially with Brimnes, which – like many IKEA furniture pieces – is made of thin particleboard, a careful assembly significantly improves the overall quality.
