Hello everyone, I have a specific question about the warranty on replacement parts for IKEA Platsa. I own several PLATSA furniture pieces and recently needed a replacement part because a fitting was defective. What I’m mainly interested in is: How long is the warranty on IKEA PLATSA replacement parts?

I’m curious whether the replacement parts have the same warranty period as the original furniture or if different rules apply. It would also be interesting to know if there are differences between components—for example, warranty periods for doors versus shelves or fittings.

Has anyone had experience with this or knows the exact conditions, preferably with detailed information about deadlines, procedures, and possible limitations?

I find the question about the warranty on PLATSA replacement parts very interesting because there is often unclear information on this topic.

In general, IKEA usually offers a statutory warranty of 2 years on furniture like PLATSA. This period should basically also apply to replacement parts, as they are considered part of the product.

However, it is important to distinguish between a warranty (a voluntary promise by the manufacturer) and statutory warranty rights. The latter are primarily relevant for the first 24 months after purchase.

Unfortunately, IKEA often does not provide a separate warranty statement specifically for replacement parts, which can cause uncertainty.

I would recommend keeping your proof of purchase handy in case of issues and, if in doubt, contacting IKEA directly.

Does anyone perhaps have documentation from IKEA service that supports this?

Hey! I’m happy to see this question! 😊 I have personally claimed replacement parts from IKEA PLATSA twice and received replacements both times – the process was smooth!

In my case, I was told that the warranty period for replacement parts is the same as for the furniture itself, which is 2 years from the date of purchase.

I really appreciate that IKEA is flexible and doesn’t make a big fuss about it. I think they just want their furniture to be used for a long time!

So if anyone needs a replacement part: just give them a call or visit the service desk! It usually works out great.

I find this to be a very helpful discussion because I was unsure myself about how spare parts are handled.

Above all, I think it is important to consider the condition of the spare part. For example, I once received a replacement shelf with small scratches and wasn’t sure if I could return it.

It reassures me that IKEA’s customer service representatives seem to be quite accommodating. Still, I believe more transparency would be desirable, especially regarding the warranty on individual components.

Does anyone know if IKEA provides written documents that explain this clearly? Or is it usually something you have to resolve verbally?

IKEA provides a two-year statutory warranty on furniture and spare parts. If a spare part is defective, simply bring it to the service center with your proof of purchase. That is all.

The warranty is valid for 2 years from the date of purchase of the furniture, including all related spare parts. Proof of purchase is required. For older furniture, spare parts can be purchased separately, in which case the warranty period for the part starts anew.
