Hello everyone,

I am planning to upgrade my Ikea PLATSA system with LED lighting. I am looking for LED lighting kits specifically designed for PLATSA that can be easily integrated into the modular furniture system without much effort. It is important to me that the installation is as simple as possible, meaning no complicated wiring or technical adjustments are required.

Does anyone know of such kits, ideally with plug connections or adhesive surfaces for mounting? It would be great if you could also share your experiences regarding the light quality and compatibility.

For additional information: There are also LED lighting sets that operate on 24V and allow more flexible installation. Some come with plug connectors that can be connected without tools – this makes handling easier, especially with modular furniture like Platsa.

When choosing, pay attention to the cable lengths to ensure the modules can be positioned without restrictions.

I can also recommend the Ikea Ledberg. The installation is very straightforward because the strips are self-adhesive and come with a small power plug. For an even simpler option, you can use battery-operated LED strips that work completely without cables.

From a technical perspective, the Ikea LEDBERG and FLOALT series are the most well-known sets suitable for PLATSA. Both offer easy installation via adhesive tape and plug-and-play connection.

The LEDBERG series features warm white light, ideal for living areas, while FLOALT is often cool white and dimmable. In terms of compatibility, PLATSA is quite flexible due to its open design, but it is advisable to check the exact dimensions of the individual LED strips against the inside of the cabinets before purchasing.

Tip: Make sure to use power supplies with sufficient capacity, as some sets may lose brightness with longer strips.

That’s a useful tip, thanks. How do you manage power sources when the PLATSA system is not located near an electrical outlet? Do you use extension cords, or are there more discreet solutions?

For locations without an electrical outlet, I recommend using the shortest possible extension cords or power strips with a switch. Alternatively, some kits also offer battery options, although these often have shorter runtimes and provide less brightness.
