Hello everyone, I am currently having an issue with readjusting my Ikea Besta doors and am looking for the most suitable tools to carry out this task properly and precisely. Specifically, I am wondering which tools are particularly useful for readjusting Ikea Besta doors to ensure perfect alignment and functionality. I am especially interested in tools that are best suited both for adjusting the hinges and for tightening the screws, and whether craft tools such as a spirit level or special screwdrivers are recommended for this purpose. I want to avoid causing damage with the wrong tools or ending up with unsatisfactory results. I would greatly appreciate any tips, suggestions, or experiences you can share.

The most important tools are a Phillips screwdriver and an appropriate Allen key for the hinges. With these, you can precisely adjust the doors. A small spirit level helps to check the alignment. You really don’t need anything more than that.

For readjusting the Ikea BESTA doors, I recommend the following procedure and tools:

- Phillips or Pozidriv screwdriver (for most hinge screws)
- Allen key, if the hinges require it
- Small spirit level or a laser level tool to check the door alignment
- Optional: small pliers for minor adjustments to the hinge mount

The sequence is important: first loosen, then adjust, and finally tighten. It’s best to make small adjustments to avoid damage. Trying to turn the screws without tools won’t provide precise results. Most Ikea hinges can be adjusted on three axes, so both the screwdriver and the Allen key are usually essential.

A tip: check beforehand if the screws are already fully tightened, sometimes just tightening them again is enough. For my durable BESTA furniture, these tools have always been sufficient. Hope this helps!

Absolutely right, and I would add: a small magnetic screwdriver makes the job much easier because the tiny screws won’t keep falling off.

And if the door really sticks, you can use a felt or a small plastic wedge to relieve pressure while adjusting it. This is especially valuable on smooth surfaces.

Nothing worse than impatient fingers turning and turning, wondering "Why won’t this work?" 😅

The best tools for me are:
- Phillips screwdriver (preferably with a small handle for precise work)
- Allen key (usually 3mm (1/8 inch))
These allow you to easily adjust the three adjustment screws on the hinge.
You only need a spirit level if the carcasses are not properly aligned.

Here is a more detailed explanation of which tools are truly useful and why:

1. Phillips screwdriver (Pozidriv sometimes works better) – usually the most important “all-purpose” tool for Ikea BESTA hinges. They typically have a cross-shaped slot, so make sure the screwdriver fits well to avoid damaging the screws.

2. 3 mm (1/8 inch) Allen key: Some hinges (including Ikea BESTA) have small hex screws for fine adjustments. This tool is used to align the doors in depth.

3. Spirit level: Helps to accurately check the horizontal and vertical alignment of the doors. There are also small Bluetooth-enabled spirit levels that provide even more precise measurements.

4. Magnetic screwdriver: Especially useful when working with small screws that are easy to drop.

5. Fine pliers or plastic wedges: For making precise small adjustments and aligning the door without scratching the cabinet.

Common mistakes include tightening the screws too much before completing the adjustments or trying to use the wrong tools. This often results in stripped screws or damaged plastic parts. Patience is key here.

Finally, I recommend inspecting all parts and examining the hinges before starting, then proceeding step by step.
