ᐅ How easy is it for a non-professional to assemble the Ikea Brimnes?

JasiniHello everyone,
I am planning to buy the Ikea Brimnes furniture piece but am still quite uncertain about how easy the assembly is for complete beginners. By that, I mean people with little DIY experience, no special tools, and perhaps assembling a larger piece of furniture for the first time.
I am particularly interested in:
- How clear are the assembly instructions for someone without technical knowledge?
- Are there any points where mistakes are easy to make or which are especially fiddly?
- How long does the assembly realistically take if done alone and without help?
- Is the included tool sufficient, or should additional equipment be prepared?
I want to base my decision to buy the Brimnes on a realistic assessment to avoid frustration later on. Thanks for your experiences and insights!

I am especially interested in:
- How easy to understand are the assembly instructions for someone without technical knowledge?
- Are there parts where mistakes are common or that are particularly tricky?
- How long does the assembly realistically take if done alone without help?
- Is the included toolset sufficient, or should additional equipment be prepared? The Ikea Brimnes series is generally designed so that it can be assembled by non-professionals. The instructions use clear images and are organized step by step, but they rely on visual explanations rather than extensive written descriptions, which can sometimes cause uncertainty for those without experience.
Common difficulties occur with correctly aligning the back panels and screwing the wooden parts together. It is advisable to follow each step carefully and in the given order to avoid assembly errors.
For a person without prior experience, the assembly time usually ranges from 2 to 4 hours, depending on how much concentration and care is applied.
The included tool (usually an Allen key) is generally sufficient for assembly, but having a small hammer and a Phillips screwdriver on hand can make some steps easier and help fit the parts together more smoothly.
In conclusion, assembly is doable without prior experience, but a patient approach to the instructions and a calm working method are recommended to prevent mistakes.

How understandable are the assembly instructions for someone without technical knowledge? The illustrated instructions are clear and avoid complicated technical terms, which is especially helpful for beginners. You really should take your time and study the pictures carefully.

Realistically, how long does the assembly take if doing it alone without help? For beginners, I would allow about 3 hours. It’s best to unpack everything, sort the parts, and then proceed step by step. Rushing only causes mistakes.

Is the included tool sufficient or should additional equipment be prepared? The included tools are usually sufficient, but having an extra toolset with a screwdriver and a small hammer is definitely very useful, especially when parts need to be fitted more easily.
In summary: Patience, keeping the assembly organized, and a bit of practical skill are more than enough to successfully build Brimnes as a beginner.
