Hello everyone, I recently bought the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe and am now facing the challenge of attaching the back panel. My question is: How do you securely fix the back panel to the IKEA BRIMNES wardrobe without any issues, so that nothing wobbles or comes loose over time? While assembling, I noticed that the back panel doesn’t always sit completely flush, and the small nails provided by IKEA tend to bend or fail to hold properly. Is there a trick, special tool, or better method to protect the material while still achieving a stable back panel? I would appreciate any tips.

Make sure that all corners of the back panel rest evenly and the dimensions are correct. Thanks for the tip. What exactly do you mean by 'rest evenly'? Does the back panel need to be perfectly flat, or is it acceptable if it bends slightly at the edges? In my case, it seemed like the groove was a bit uneven, causing the back panel to lift slightly at one corner. Is this problematic or still acceptable?

A back panel should fit as fully and flush as possible in the groove to avoid later warping or instability. Minor deviations can be corrected by gently pressing the panel using wooden strips or thin wedges. However, larger gaps may cause issues during assembly.

Is this problematic or still acceptable?Unevenness in the groove can affect the stability of the back panel and therefore the entire cabinet. If the back panel does not sit completely flat, the stress will be distributed unevenly, which may cause the cabinet to become unstable over time. One solution is to carefully adjust the groove or use thin wooden spacers to ensure the back panel has firm contact everywhere.
I really appreciate how all the tips come together here. Lastly, my advice: after the back panel is installed, regularly check during the first few weeks whether any nails start to loosen or if the back panel begins to wobble. Sometimes you just need to make some adjustments—flat-pack furniture often settles a bit over time. Don’t hesitate to re-secure it; it’s better than dealing with annoying problems later on.
