rieldanHello everyone, I am currently looking into the Ikea Pax system and have a specific question: Are there versions of the Ikea Pax wardrobe available with special or unusual surface materials? I’m not referring to the standard colors or melamine finishes, but rather to unique surfaces like matte wood effects, real wood fronts, special paints, or even surfaces with distinct textures or tactile qualities. If so, it would be great if you could provide examples or advise what to watch for when purchasing if I want a more exclusive surface instead of the standard option. Thanks in advance for your experiences and tips!

As a supplement: Ikea often offers fronts for Pax in white and wood-like finishes. Painted surfaces are available, but genuine wood or real natural materials are rare. If a specific feel or texture is desired, it is worth considering third-party suppliers or modifications. Additionally, I recommend feeling the surface in the store, as photos often do not accurately represent the true material characteristics.

You can swap the doors or look for custom-made ones. That’s an interesting point. Does anyone know if Ikea offers easily interchangeable doors with different finishes for Pax wardrobes, or are modifications often necessary? Is there perhaps an overview of possible doors – including from third-party suppliers – that fit well? I imagine that some doors might have different constructions and could therefore cause issues during installation.olivernu schrieb:

Why don’t they finally offer surfaces that are made of real wood or at least have a tactile texture? It almost seems like they want to push customers toward accessories and external solutions. Who always wants just a sterile, smooth surface?

Is there perhaps an overview of possible doors – including third-party options – that integrate well? Such an overview is still rare. Usually, you have to dig through user reviews online.
