Hello everyone,
I recently assembled a Pax wardrobe from Ikea, but unfortunately some parts were missing or lost during the process. Now I am facing the challenge of ordering these missing components—such as rails, connectors, and certain screws—separately.
My specific question is: What is the best way to order missing or defective parts for my Pax wardrobe from Ikea? Is there a central resource, like a spare parts service or dedicated contact options? Is it necessary to use the item number, or can orders also be placed using the wardrobe model and part description?
I look forward to your tips and experiences, especially regarding the procedures, waiting times, and costs involved.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Nicklas,
Your concern is completely understandable. Basically, Ikea does offer a spare parts service for all furniture, including the Pax wardrobes. You can usually access this through customer service. The most efficient approach is as follows:
- First, ideally you need the item number of the specific part or at least the exact product number of the Pax wardrobe.
- Second, you can request spare parts either by phone, email, or in person at the store.
- Third, Ikea also provides a spare parts list in their online customer center that helps with ordering.
Please note that certain small parts are sometimes only available as part of a set. Typical waiting times are around 7–14 days, depending on availability.
As a first step, I recommend identifying the item numbers of the missing parts, as this speeds up the ordering process.

Ikea also has dedicated spare parts stores in larger cities where you can pick up parts in person. This saves delivery time.
If the item is not in stock, ordering online through the service portal is the most efficient option. Simply specify and order the required parts there.
Hello Nicklas,
It is really frustrating when parts are missing during assembly. Don’t worry, most Ikea customers experience this, and there is an effective way to handle it:
- First, find the exact name or product number of the Pax wardrobe. You can find this on the receipt, packaging, or assembly instructions.
- Then, make a list of the missing parts, ideally with descriptions and quantities.
- Ikea has a dedicated customer service for replacement parts. You can contact them by phone or use the online form on their website.
When I started assembling my own furniture, I often had missing screws, and within a week I had everything by mail. Ikea usually sends replacement parts free of charge if they are missing.
If you need help identifying the parts, I’m happy to assist.

Hello Nicklas,
to provide effective help here, it would be useful to know exactly which parts you are missing.
For example, if it involves internal components like drawer slides or soft-close mechanisms, ordering spare parts can be a bit more complicated since some of these parts are only available as complete modules. Screws and fasteners, on the other hand, can usually be reordered individually without issues, provided you have the item numbers.
Steps for optimal reordering:
- Use the assembly instructions and mark the missing parts with their respective numbers.
- Create a list and try to find the item numbers. You can partly research these in the Ikea online store or app.
- Contact Ikea customer service by phone with this list. They can inform you which parts are directly available.
- Ask about delivery times and alternatives if your required part is not in stock.
A tip: Some spare parts have regional availability differences, so stock may vary depending on the Ikea store.
Could you please specify the missing components in more detail? Then I can assist you more precisely.

- The metal runners for the drawers that allow smooth and even sliding
- A certain number of plastic connectors (those white hexagonal plastic pieces used in some wood joinery)
- A few of the standard Phillips head screws (I assume these are 30mm (1.2 inches) long, but I am not sure)
I have reviewed the assembly instructions for the Pax, but I couldn’t find any exact item numbers for these small parts. Therefore, my question is whether it is sufficient to go to Ikea with just a description and possibly the cabinet model, or if specific item numbers are absolutely required.
