Hello everyone, I am planning to place several Kallax shelves side by side to create a larger, continuous storage solution. I have noticed that unattractive gaps often appear between the individual units, even when carefully aligned. I am therefore interested in which techniques, tips, or other solutions you use to permanently prevent these gaps in Kallax shelving. I am especially curious if you use any specific mounting methods, connectors, or sealants that are reliable and visually appealing. I look forward to your experiences and recommendations.

I’m curious to know which techniques, tricks, or other solutions you use to permanently prevent gaps in Kallax shelves? It’s great that you’re bringing this up! 🙂 I had exactly the same problem, and what worked really well for me is connecting the individual modules with small metal brackets, which I screw in from the back. This holds everything together very securely and at the same time pushes the modules tightly against each other. After that, I apply a thin, transparent sealing tape that fills small gaps and is hardly visible. This way, the look stays clean and the gaps disappear! Give it a try—it really makes a big difference!
To avoid gaps between Kallax units, precise alignment to the millimeter is recommended. The units have manufacturing tolerances that may vary depending on the batch. A stable connection can be achieved by using metal brackets to fasten the units together. Additionally, it is advisable to place the units on a hard, level surface and use spacer plates or felt pads underneath to compensate for any unevenness. For aesthetic purposes, slim silicone joints can be applied to visually conceal the gaps.

Metal brackets fastened to each other. Yes, that is the simplest method. This way, the modules automatically align and remain stable.
Another aspect to consider is the choice of flooring. Kallax units tend to wobble more on carpet, which promotes the formation of gaps. A solid and level surface is therefore essential, also to align the units neatly. To secure them, I used clamp screws with gentle pressure while installing the connecting brackets; this pulls the units perfectly together without causing damage.
