Hello everyone,

I am facing the challenge of furnishing a very small hallway in a practical way, and I came across the Ikea Platsa series. My question is: Does anyone in this forum have experience or specific ideas on how to make the most of small hallways using Ikea PLATSA furniture?

I am looking for solutions that provide storage space without making the hallway feel too cramped, as it is only about 1.2 meters (4 feet) wide and around 3 meters (10 feet) long. Tips on modular combinations that offer maximum flexibility would be especially interesting.

Does anyone have suggestions for effective layouts or clever extensions that can make small hallways more welcoming and functional? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

For small hallways, PLATSA is ideal because the modules can be adjusted very flexibly.

I would recommend low cabinets with doors to prevent dust while providing space for shoes or jackets. Wall shelves above are also practical.

I completely reorganized my hallway using PLATSA and can only say: very satisfied!

- It’s best to use narrow base cabinets with doors and open shelves on top for decoration and basket storage.
- Adjusting to the wall height makes a big difference; I extended the storage all the way up to the ceiling to make use of every centimeter (inch)!

Don’t be afraid to experiment! These furniture pieces are flexible enough to really enhance your hallway. 🙂

I think the question is very important because small hallways are often underestimated.

That sounds great. From my own experience, I know it can be frustrating to find a solution that combines storage and openness.

Maybe Noahtan can also consider whether mirror elements or light-colored fronts could help visually expand the hallway?

That’s a good tip, thanks! I was actually thinking about using light-colored doors to avoid making the hallway feel too “overwhelming.” However, I’m unsure about the mirrors due to the layout, since the hallway is very narrow.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to best integrate mirrors with PLATSA? Are there suitable modules or accessories available?

PLATSA actually offers mirrored doors as an option, which can be installed instead of a regular door.

I did this myself, and it really helps to make the room feel more spacious. It’s best to take a standard height module with a mirrored door and combine it with open shelving above.
