ᐅ Where can I find replacement parts for damaged IKEA BRIMNES drawers?

ronmu55Hello everyone,
I have several BRIMNES dresser drawers from IKEA, where the drawer bottoms are badly damaged in some places, partly torn or sagging. My question is where I can get replacement parts specifically for the drawer bottoms or similar components like side panels or drawer runners for the BRIMNES model.
I have already contacted IKEA directly, and they told me they do not sell individual parts separately and only replace entire dressers. I find this neither sustainable nor cost-effective.
Does anyone know of alternative sources, such as third-party suppliers, specialized workshops, or proven repair methods?
Is it possibly an option to get original parts used or refurbished?
I look forward to any tips and experiences, as I would like to keep using the dressers without having to buy them completely new.
Thank you in advance!

Hey, great that you described the problem in such detail! 😊 IKEA can sometimes be rather inflexible.
I once had a similar situation with BRIMNES, where the drawer runners were damaged. My solution: Try local carpenters or joiners, who can often mill or adjust parts precisely!
Alternatively: Sometimes it’s worth checking online marketplaces for used replacement parts. Individual drawer bottoms or complete drawers often sell for a low price.
Don’t give up—these kinds of challenges are what make DIY home building exciting! 👍

Hello ronmu55,
Your question about specifically replacing damaged BRIMNES drawer bottoms is very well formulated and addresses a common issue with IKEA furniture: the lack of spare parts availability.
Here is the approach I can recommend:
- First, you should check whether the damage to the drawer bottoms involves standardized parts or if a custom repair would be more practical. BRIMNES drawer bottoms are usually made from thin, laminated engineered wood, which makes custom reproduction technically possible.
- Unfortunately, IKEA often only sells complete units. However, customer service can sometimes arrange spare parts through local stores. I would suggest contacting an IKEA service center again with your original order number and explicitly asking for “replacement drawer bottom for BRIMNES.”
- If original parts are not available, a hardware store with a cutting service is an alternative: you can have MDF boards or engineered wood cut to size to replace the drawer bottoms. Pay close attention to exact dimensions and material thickness (usually 10 to 15mm (0.4 to 0.6 inches) for BRIMNES).
- Another option concerns the drawer runners: replacement parts from manufacturers such as Blum or Hettich are often compatible or can be adapted with minor modifications.
One more question regarding the specific type of damage: Is it mainly breaks in the drawer bottom itself or missing runner components? This would significantly affect the approach.
