WildThingHello dear forum,
We now need to start choosing our doors, especially the doors leading into the house.
We have direct access from the garage to the hallway. We need a door for this access. The special aspect is that this door will be passed frequently from the inside, as you have to walk past it when going from the main entrance to the wardrobe.
What type of door would you recommend here? Which ones do you have, and what did they cost?
We have received various recommendations:
- Fire door (T30?)
- Security door with RC1 or RC2 rating
- Combination: fire protection + security door

Bauexperte21 Aug 2015 13:38If access from the garage to the house is provided, a fire-resistant door rated T90 is required. This means the house could burn down to its foundations within 90 minutes, but this door would still hold.
Whether it is designed as a security door depends on the valuables you have in your home and/or your security needs.
Best regards, Bauexperte

Are you sure? Is the T90 requirement the same in every federal state? The sellers mentioned that it varies a lot from one building location to another regarding what the building authority demands.
And are there also "attractive" fire doors? I mean doors that look similar to a regular white interior door from the inside?

I’m just installing a standard T30 frame with the appropriate profile cylinder. The steel door itself is already quite secure... of course, you can always go for more security (against cash theft).
There are also fire doors that look similar to interior doors – those cost significantly more. It wouldn’t be worth it to me unless the entrance is directly in the living room.
By chance, I received the window manufacturer’s offer yesterday, which also includes two T30 doors: each priced at 250 euros including installation, with a height of 2.13 meters (7 feet) and a width of 88 centimeters (35 inches).

Hello,
we have a door that meets T90 fire resistance, is burglar-resistant (WK2 or WK3), and smoke-tight (to prevent exhaust gases from entering the house), while still looking good.
Search for "Hörmann STU" to find the relevant catalog. It cost just under one thousand euros.

That sounds really good and like a very affordable price! Do you have no RC rating at all? So it’s just a “normal” locking cylinder?
Currently, we also have offers where the door including installation should cost just under 1000 euros, but to me, that’s simply too expensive.... It’s not a high-security facility anyway, and there are smoke detectors in the house if there really is a fire.
