Hello,

we have external storage rooms with standing water allowed up to 1–1.5 cm (0.4–0.6 inches) on the roof.

We would like to green the roof now. Is there any recommendation or modular system that can simply be placed on top and absorb the water?

You first need to have a structural engineer check if this is possible... the green roofing alone weighs several hundred kilograms.

I agree, you should have it inspected. Even if it always says the roof can handle a lot of water, it may not withstand the constant load. Therefore, have it checked.

What do you mean by “permitted” standing water? Is it a pond? Is it planned? Does it have to be that way? Why should the water be absorbed? I would say that standing water indicates incomplete drainage. Greening the roof does not solve this problem! You should ask a roofer (take a photo, go to a roofer, show it, get their opinion).

Regarding the second part of your question: Visit a garden center of your choice for advice, ask about a flat roof greening kit, or enter “green roof kit” into a search engine of your choice.
