Hello everyone,

I have a bit of a question regarding the energy saving regulations. I would appreciate some help.

We plan to build a house according to KfW 70 standards. Our structural engineer/architect has done the calculations for us. The building permit/planning permission is already approved, and we have the authorization. Which version of the energy saving regulations applies now? The engineer used the 2014 energy saving regulation (dated 11.10.2013) for the calculations, where Qp max = 52.3 kWh/m²a and H T max = 0.333 W/m²K. I believe these values only apply starting from 01.01.2016. Am I mistaken?

Thank you.

Hello,

Once the building permit / planning permission is approved, the current Energy Saving Ordinance 2014 applies; by the way, this regulation remains in effect temporarily until March 31, 2016.

So everything is fine 🙂

Thank you for the response, building expert. I have one more question: Is a solar system with heating support worthwhile? It would be necessary to achieve KfW 70, but I wonder how others reach KfW 70 with a gas condensing boiler and a solar system only for hot water.

Personally, I’m not convinced about that 😉

A mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery should also work, unless you are planning to build on the Brocken mountain 😀

Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery? Is it possible to combine this with a condensing boiler and achieve KfW 70 standard?

Yes – why not, if the conditions allow it?
