Does anyone have experience with pellets/ pellet heating systems? Would you generally recommend them, or would you rather advise against using them?
I would be very grateful for both positive and negative feedback!

The pellet thing is a bit tricky; I wouldn’t be so sure I want that because dealing with the soot and ash is definitely a lot of work.
by Udo It’s not as bad as it sounds. The soot goes into the regular household waste, and the ash is great for spreading in winter. It’s also a good fertilizer for the garden.
All the best, Helen

I would like to get a heating system like that if I could, but unfortunately, it’s not possible for me because of the chimney.
I have a gas heating system, and only the same type of heating systems are allowed to be connected to one chimney.
Such a pity
GerdYou can’t use the chimney, but you can build a separate flue that runs along the outside of the house and connect such a stove to it.

basically, not a bad idea.. but.. they are not CO₂-neutral as advertising suggests, not quite as harmless, and so on.

Kristiani18 Feb 2009 17:06First of all, thanks for your input. I have been considering getting a pellet heating system for some time now.
@ Sam22: Where do you get your pellets from, and what costs should I expect?
Best regards, Kristiani

Hello,
using pellets is a very good option. Firstly, they are quite affordable, and secondly, you can do something positive for the environment.
They only emit as much CO2 as the tree originally absorbed.
