Hello everyone,
This week we attended the selection appointment for our house and are still undecided about which type of door to choose for our balcony door (3m opening width): currently, a tilt-and-slide door from Kneer is included, while the lift-and-slide door would cost an additional 2630€ including film coating.
There seems to be some debate on this topic, as many say the lift-and-slide door requires more effort to open. Unfortunately, I can’t make a direct comparison at the moment. What do the experienced home builders think about this?
Regards,
Uwe

Who is the door from? I’m not sure at the moment, only that the windows are from Kneer, but I don’t think they manufacture sliding doors. Our advisor is currently on vacation and will be back on June 8th, then I can ask him.
Yes, the required effort to operate it was mentioned several times. Also, I thought that with this door we wouldn’t be able to tilt it open for ventilation, which is actually quite convenient. The main advantage would be the lower threshold, but the question is whether that’s worth €2,500.
We have a 2.50m (8.2 ft) lift-and-slide door and are satisfied with it. Even our youngest child (3 years old) can easily open it.
For tilting ventilation, we have a regular patio door.
We were advised against a tilt-and-slide door because they are reportedly more prone to issues.
