ᐅ Is an additional heater recommended in a bathroom with underfloor heating?

Hello everyone,
We are currently planning our new house and have reached the point where we need to decide on an additional fast heating option for our bathroom, one that responds more quickly than the rather slow underfloor heating.
We are considering either a wall-mounted fan heater or an electric towel warmer. We understand that both options have their advantages and disadvantages, but this supplementary heater will only be used during transitional seasons when the underfloor heating is not yet running or has already been turned off.
The bathroom has a floor area of about 18 square meters (living area around 16 square meters (172 square feet) due to the sloping ceiling). The built-in heating system will be an air-to-water heat pump with a controlled ventilation system.
Personally, I’m leaning toward the towel warmer, mostly for aesthetic reasons.
What would you recommend?
Best regards,
Dirk

Well, if that’s the case, I’m glad we chose a gas heating system. It includes towel radiators for warm towels and looks nice.
However, our heating loops are laid so close together that we can change the heating type later if needed.

Yes, a gas heating system does have a higher supply temperature – and a hydronic underfloor heating system can certainly function as a supplementary heater. It just needs to be designed accordingly.
I agree with you about the infrared heating; however, it should only be considered a pleasant additional option, as it has the lowest efficiency.

Infrared heating is often used in hotel bathrooms.
I visit the Dominican Republic quite often, and especially in winter I prefer a cozy warm bathroom, so I would say: The biggest nonsense ever!

I still never really feel warm under those. It annoys me every time.

Whether you can call it a luxury or if these units are truly effective is questionable. We had one in our old house and eventually stopped using it because it didn’t make a difference. Also, it cannot dry or warm several towels at once because they overlap and don’t have direct contact with the pipes. Dust buildup matters if you don’t have regular cleaning help.
I have to say that I was told the towel radiator would serve as an additional heat source. I share your view—it only warms the towels.]
