ᐅ Installing electric roller shutters or just preparing for them

Hello,

we have the following question:
In our planned house, all windows are designed to have manual roller shutters. The construction company charges nearly €450 per shutter for the installation of electric roller shutters with a timer. For preparing the operation of an electric roller shutter (delivery/installation of the necessary wiring including empty conduit with cover and switch completion, but without the timer), the cost is €150. What would you advise: to have everything installed all at once, or is it more practical and especially more cost-effective to install the roller shutter motors and timers ourselves? The strap for manual operation will be mounted on the window frame, so there is no need to open up the walls later.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Best regards,
Peter

Hello, we are in the same situation.

We ordered roller shutters for the entire house, which cost us €4000.
Now, however, we have 4 fewer windows than originally planned, and they don’t want to give us a refund. The explanation is that the price covers the whole house regardless of the number of windows. I guess I should have planned for 17 windows; then there probably would have been an extra charge.

Well, the fact is we don’t want the ugly strap winders on the windows. I also want to buy Jarolift radio motors and install them myself.
Do I still need these isolation relays with the radio motors? According to the description, they work with a remote control, and you can lower all of them as a group or individually.

The problem is the electrician wants €90 for the power supply line, which I think is very expensive.

The builder wants €300 for motors including a switch at the window, control, and connection.

I feel confident that I can handle the installation. With the radio motors, only the motors need to be wired; the switches or central switch or remote control work wirelessly and probably run on batteries.

What do you think?

Best regards,
somebody

Have the surplus equipment handed over to you and sell it on eBay. (Are the 4 fewer windows accounted for as a price reduction?)

We are not building with a general contractor, so we have specified windows with electric roller shutters separately. However, I don’t like the types of motors installed because they seem unreliable (based on online reviews). Would it be possible, from a procedural standpoint, to ask the window manufacturer to exclude the motors, and I install the motors myself after they have installed the windows, roller shutters, and boxes with armored shutters?

I would like to install the motors from 3t Motors. They are affordable and very durable.

Just tell the window installer to fit them.

Does he install them himself? I thought he just gets the boxes ready-made from somewhere.

How would the process work then? Should I provide the motors to him in advance for installation? I need to discuss this with him.
