Hello everyone,
We currently have the opportunity to purchase a sloped plot of land. The garden faces south, with the road located above the property to the north. Within a depth of 20 meters (65.6 feet), there is a 2-meter (6.6 feet) slope. The plot is 20 meters (65.6 feet) wide and approximately 50 meters (164 feet) deep.
I would like to gather some ideas online on how such a plot could be developed. I have already tried many search terms on Google, but mostly get images of houses located above the road (with an upward slope on the property).
My question is: what should I search for to find inspiration for the opposite situation? For our plot, a walk-out basement seems like a possible option, is that correct?
Maybe you can help me with some search keywords for Google. Before we commit to the purchase, I would like to get some ideas about what kind of development is feasible.
Micha

Hello,
I also searched extensively online back then and didn’t find much. I then tried terms like “new build on a slope” or “hill construction” and similar phrases.
We have a similar thread here, you might want to take a look:

Don’t limit your search too much: “house and slope” is perfectly enough for gathering ideas

Thank you in advance.
I will give it a try. Well, not exactly the same in terms of possibilities. The plots up there can place the garage in the basement and go up. Ours would most likely be at ground floor level, since it only has a maximum building depth of 12m (39 feet) from the property line.
My general thoughts on this. For our project, two options are possible. Please correct me if I’m mistaken?
1) On the ground floor are the bedrooms and master bathroom, basement contains the living-dining area, guest bathroom, and utility room.
If the living and dining area is in the basement, then the main entrance should be on the side of the house. You wouldn’t enter upstairs and then go down stairs to get to the living room, right? This way you could go directly from the living room to the garden, barbecue outside, etc. No balcony would be needed.
2) On the ground floor, living-dining area and possibly the parents’ bedroom plus master bathroom; basement with children’s bedrooms facing south, small bathroom/shower, and utility room.
If you want to access the garden with this solution, you would either have to go through the basement emergency exit, go around outside, or have a balcony upstairs with stairs leading down.
We tend to think a living room in the basement has its advantages—the sleeping area upstairs is more separated. However, there is no example anywhere showing how access to the house would work with a garage at ground floor height (difference in elevation).
My brother has option 2 on a hillside and has to carry everything through the house all the time.
It would be great to get your opinion on my thoughts. Maybe I’m totally wrong.
Before we talk with our architect, we want to consider this basic “problem” to have a preferred option that can be developed further.
One more detail: the roof must be either a pitched roof or a single-slope roof.

However, before talking to our architect about this fundamental "problem," we wanted to think it through firstBetter not.
The garage is always mentioned first for you, followed by suggestions on how to squeeze standard houses into a slope. That’s not how it works. Just google it.
I’m not sure I fully understand you. Should I just not say anything to the architect and let her handle it?
For now, my main concern is to decide whether to buy the plot of land or not. We haven’t purchased it yet. Since it’s a 100,000€ investment, I want to clarify for myself whether I can live with the available options before deciding to buy or not.
