ᐅ What should be considered when building a staircase / Differences in stair layout

Hello,
we are currently planning our house and want to first design a floor plan ourselves or improve the initial proposal from the architect.
Can anyone provide information on what needs to be considered when planning a staircase? So far, we have planned a half-turn staircase leading to the upper floor and the basement. Is it possible to simply replace it with a quarter-turn staircase, or would that cause issues because it no longer fits the upper floor layout, as it would have to be “extended” upward?
Which type of staircase is generally recommended, and what should be taken into account?
Thank you for any tips!
PS. I apologize for the mistakes in the headline. I accidentally submitted the post and am unable to change the title.

BeHaElJa described it quite well. Each staircase requires a different amount of space, so the floor plan will likely need to be fundamentally adjusted if you change the type of staircase. It’s best to discuss this with your architect if you prefer a different style of staircase.

That’s not correct, a straight staircase takes up the most space, followed by a quarter-turn staircase!

Thank you for the link!
I don’t think that choosing one type of staircase or another can be simplified solely to the required space and should not be used as an exclusion criterion.
A staircase with a landing doesn’t fit every floor plan any more than a straight staircase does. The space requirement of the latter, by the way, completes the feeling of spaciousness in an open design, where a quarter-turn or half-turn staircase might look intentional but not well executed. In my opinion, staircases should also be used as design elements and not only as connections between floors.

@Baufie and @Bauexperte
I don’t know the link that Baufie sent to Bauexperte 😉
but basically the space requirement for a staircase also depends on the size of the hallway that is needed.
This tends to get overlooked in this thread, but it might be useful for the original poster to know 🙂

Do you have any experience with half-turn staircases in terms of dimensions?
