Shower area with handheld shower on vertical bar niche with rubber duck

Small walk-in shower: white wall tiles, dark floor tiles, linear drain, metal ring.

In our case, the area was specially waterproofed as well. There are no dirty grout lines or water stains. We have no issues with lime deposits or stains because our water is very soft.

The cover of the drain channel is removable. In the middle, in front of the flat trap, there is a strainer that works the same way as the standard drains in regular bathtubs with standpipes.

We have been using it for about 7 months now and are satisfied. If anything had been done incorrectly, we would definitely have noticed by now. Water damage usually becomes visible quite quickly.

I consider the argument that underfloor heating makes waterproofing more difficult to be complete nonsense. Of course, careful waterproofing is always essential in a tiled shower, but that should really not need to be pointed out separately. I personally find it very comfortable when the floor is already warm as soon as I step into the shower – not only after a minute of running water.

By the way, there is also the option to heat a bathtub from underneath. I think that’s really great as well.

We have the same setup in the guest bathroom: a channel drain and underfloor heating. What can I say—I use the shower in the guest bathroom at least as often as the one upstairs with the shower tray. It’s comfortably warm underfoot. So far, no water damage.

@K1300S: Heated bathtub? Do you have one? Our tub will be placed in a styrofoam holder like that, and there won’t even be underfloor heating installed underneath. Besides, the heat wouldn’t really transfer upward through the styrofoam anyway. I’m curious how your bathtubs are heated.
