Our heating engineer recommended it to us. He said that the low temperature of the underfloor heating wouldn’t be sufficient to warm a bathroom comfortably, so every extra square meter (sq m) of heating surface is a plus for the room.
From my own experience with our current bathroom, I can confirm he is right—the room doesn’t get warm enough with just the underfloor heating, at least not for kids. Without the towel radiator, the bathroom wouldn’t be very warm in winter. The radiator runs on a timer only in the mornings and evenings.

Also, my husband and I have been wondering whether a shower tray might be easier to clean, and if a tiled shower floor tends to develop dark, unattractive grout lines quickly. At the moment, we are leaning towards a shower tray for these reasons. However, I would be interested to hear about others’ experiences with the tiled option. Having warm feet is certainly a nice advantage, too.
