We are considering installing folding shutters. Has anyone installed them made of wood or aluminum, and what type of mechanism did you use (electric or manual)? Also, how much more expensive is the whole setup compared to a manually operated roller shutter? Thanks for any information!

We also considered which ones to choose but have only prepared the electrical work for now. In one or two years, we might possibly retrofit folding or sliding shutters. However, they are probably significantly more expensive.

Thank you for your reply, Koempy! May I ask how much the electrical work cost you?

Are wooden shutters really that much more expensive than roller shutters? From a construction perspective, you can install wooden shutters yourself (mounting them on the outside), whereas roller shutter boxes need to be integrated into the shell construction. Does anyone have price information? There is very little available online.

Anything that is not commonly requested tends to be more expensive compared to the standard! Exterior roller shutters start at around €300.00 per pair in reasonable quality plastic versions with internal sliders and installation; prices increase significantly, especially for aluminum or wooden versions.

Thank you for your response! Our project specifications include roller shutters with a belt system. We will remove them entirely... do you think the difference will still be that significant?
