Hello everyone!

I previously reached out to you about our floor plan.
We received some great suggestions from you, which we have now incorporated.
We have enlarged the utility room and reduced the size of the office, which was too big. We also changed the staircase so it is no longer located within the muddy area.
In addition, we moved the children's room door on the upper floor far enough away from the stairs to prevent the risk of falling.
Now regarding the floor plan:
On the plan, north is at the bottom.
The large patio door is on the south side, in the kitchen. There is also a small door in the living room on the west side. We are still considering adding a small door in the office.
All windows in the children's rooms are floor-to-ceiling to allow plenty of natural light.

The door to the garage remains our biggest challenge. We would love to have dry access from the garage into the house, but unfortunately, that would cost us a lot of space.
Placing the entrance on the east side does not seem practical, as that would require relocating the stairs and modifying the upper floor.
It would be helpful to hear from homeowners about whether a direct connection to the garage is truly convenient and if you would be willing to sacrifice so much storage area in the utility room for it.

If I have forgotten anything, please feel free to ask.

Thanks for your feedback!

Why is the garage attached to the house exactly at this spot and not set further forward?

@Yvonne: What do you mean by "pushed further forward"? Please specify the direction.

@Manu: So, this is how we imagine the entrance area:
Right after entering, there will only be a few hooks and some space for shoes on the left. A bench with additional room for shoes and some coats will be placed between the utility room and the door to the dining area. That should help ease the "backpack situation" a bit.
We'll think about splitting the utility room into two parts! That would probably look better, and if it were an enclosed room, it wouldn't be a problem. How often do you really need to access the technical equipment?
The only way we could have access to the terrace is through the office... but that wouldn’t be very practical either...

@milkie:
We tried it out! If we put a utility room between the bedroom and the bathroom, neither the closet in the bedroom nor the large walk-in shower in the bathroom would fit.
If I enter through the dressing room, in your idea, does the bed stay where it is? And then move the wall up by the width of the door?

@Yvonne: That’s not possible because we have to maintain exactly this distance from the street...

Hooks on the wall next to the utility room for jackets? That’s going to get tight.

A typical everyday situation for us: The child puts on their school backpack in the morning. Mom (that’s me) goes to the door, unlocks it, and gives my child a kiss. Then the sibling comes along, also wanting a kiss from their sister. The schoolchild turns around and bam – either mom or the sibling gets the backpack in the face.
Another situation: Four people come home. The first one has to hang their jacket on the first coat rack. Numbers 2, 3, and 4 stand behind, waiting. You can’t close the door because number 4 can’t get inside while number 1 is causing a bottleneck at the coat rack.

I don’t know if you’re parents yet. But from my experience, couples without children often underestimate the huge amount of space needed for kids’ jackets, shoes, hats, scarves, and bags.

I completely agree, and above all, there should be enough space at the front door to pass by each other comfortably. This is important when putting on or taking off shoes or carrying luggage.

Are the setback requirements different for the house compared to the garage? ????
If possible, I had planned a nice kitchen window, and maybe a terrace at the corner of the garage....
