Hi,

I have purchased a Massa house and want to enlarge the kitchen.
For this, two small walls are to be removed, and the pantry will be eliminated there. It is marked in blue in the pictures.
If I understand the structural engineering correctly, these small walls should not be load-bearing.

Do you have any tips on the best way to proceed here?

I am currently proceeding cautiously:
- I have partially removed the drywall, but not completely, as it is attached both below the screed and above the ceiling.
- Is it possible to detach the wooden studs from the bottom plate? It seems to me that it may come down to cutting them as low as possible.
- I had hoped to keep the surrounding interior drywall, but I think I will have to give up on that.

You are probably right: the dashed walls seem to have load-bearing properties, while the white walls do not.

I think this way

I am currently taking it slow and steady:
You are definitely on the right track for a DIY project. I don’t have a better suggestion.

By the way, it’s quite clear in this floor plan that inserting a pantry usually compromises the space. New homeowners should consider this carefully instead of forcing the kitchen layout and ruining the room.

It would be quite unusual if these walls had load-bearing properties. As ypg already mentioned, they are also not shown with dashed lines, which reinforces this assumption. A pantry can also be incorporated with a practical kitchen layout.
