Astrid74Hello everyone,
I am currently planning the lighting for my bathroom and could really use your advice.
The mirror lighting is already decided, but now I need to consider whether to add recessed ceiling spotlights or a central ceiling light.
My questions:
I would really appreciate your experiences or suggestions!
Thank you in advance!

I am currently planning the lighting for my bathroom and could really use your advice.
The mirror lighting is already decided, but now I need to consider whether to add recessed ceiling spotlights or a central ceiling light.
My questions:
- Which option is more practical for providing even lighting in the bathroom?
- Are there specific placements or tips you would recommend?
- What should be considered when combining these with fixed mirror lighting?
I would really appreciate your experiences or suggestions!
Thank you in advance!

Are there any specific placements or tips you would recommend? A ceiling light positioned in the center has proven effective for decades.

What is more practical for evenly lighting the bathroom? Since the bathroom is quite a straightforward rectangular shape, you don’t really need to worry about achieving perfectly even lighting.

What should be considered when combining it with fixed mirror lighting? They should be switched separately.
And: I hope you keep all your bathroom questions in one post, just as the renovation is best done in one go.

motorradsilke27 Dec 2025 22:31We have it the same way as @ypg described. The ceiling light is centered and can be switched independently from the mirror cabinet lighting. This setup has proven effective over the past 4 years. Since the shower has glass walls, this works well; with built walls, I would do it differently. Spotlights would be too inflexible for me.

Switchable separately.
And: I hope you reconsider and keep all bathroom-related questions in one post, just as the renovation is done all at once. Thank you, you helped me a lot. I had actually planned it that way already, but a lighting consultant confused me completely today… thank you.

Thank you, you really helped me. I had actually planned it that way anyway, but a lighting consultant really confused me today…. thanks The lighting consultant probably wanted to earn more than just from one ceiling light.
