Hello everyone,

Since 2021, I have had a Wedi shower tray installed. For some time now, when you step on it with some force, it sounds as if water is "sloshing" underneath. It's of course hard to describe the noise. I made a video where you can hear it, but unfortunately, I can’t upload it here.

Maybe someone has experienced this before or has heard of it, or knows what it could be?

Best regards,
Robin

Maybe the water in the trap/drain under the shower is the issue. Indeed, even a small amount of water sloshing around could cause moisture damage on the floor below. I experienced water damage that was caused by a relatively small amount of water. If you’re unsure, the only option is to carefully drill a small hole and inspect underneath with a camera.

Not necessarily. Maybe the concrete ceiling below already has a proper slope, so the water runs underneath the screed throughout the entire building and collects there. It’s hard to visualize exactly, but if it’s the kind of “sloshing” noise I imagine, then you probably already have a sizable puddle underneath. Yes, it should eventually become visible down there.

Exactly, I would find a way to get a clear answer, otherwise you won’t be able to stop thinking about it. Maybe you can insert the camera at a good spot without causing any real damage. Take some pictures and please share the results.

If it sounds like there is water inside the house where it shouldn’t be: open it up and have it checked.

It is a prefabricated timber house, so it has a wooden ceiling inside.

I have uploaded the video; I hope you can watch it:

Sounds like "We Will Rock You" by Queen, but since it's in your shower, the advice here still stands: check it out!
