ᐅ Are PVC ventilation ducts safe regarding harmful substances such as plasticizers?

Hi!
I need supply and exhaust ducts for a decentralized controlled residential ventilation system.
Condensate will also drain through the exhaust duct.
I also need (smooth inside) 15-degree elbows.
So far, I have only seen these made from PVC.
Apparently, PVC can be harmful to health because it may release pollutants, but this might only apply to flexible PVC (plasticizers) and not to rigid PVC.
Can anyone provide some information on this?
Thanks and best regards

Health issues typically arise—like so often—only from lack of maintenance or similar problems. If no one cleans the filters for over 10 years, they can become breeding grounds for germs. A little condensation on the outside of pipes is not a problem (so please ensure a slight slope for decentralized systems as well—it only concerns the area where warm, humid air meets the cold from outside).

Thank you! Very interesting. Are these white PVC pipes all made of PVC-U and therefore free of plasticizers?

RealUnreal24 Oct 2025 20:43I have found a suitable angle made of ABS plastic.
At the moment, I am still looking for an appropriate sealant that does not emit harmful substances after it has fully cured.
